FESTIVAL OF TREES

Raeford Presbyterian Church is hosting its Second Annual Festival of Trees from November 22 to December 5 in John C. Ropp Hall. The proceeds of this year's auction will benefit The Children's Developmental Center of Raeford and the church's building fund. We would like for you, or your business or organization to participate in this new and fun event.

You might ask, “What is a Festival of Trees?” Participants are offered the opportunity to donate decorated, pre-lit, artificial Christmas trees or Christmas wreaths. Raeford Presbyterian Church will display the trees and wreaths in John C. Ropp Hall for public viewing. We will host a reception on Thursday, December 2. And following the reception, The Christmas trees and wreaths will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Businesses, groups, organizations and individuals will be recognized through advertising for participating in the festival. Those that do not want to donate a tree or wreath may participate through sponsorship and will receive recognition as well.

Participants can have a great deal of fun with this. You may want to decorate a tree with a theme that represents your business or simply donate a traditional decorated tree. We will have several categories for consideration.

The entire community is welcome at this event; therefore your tree will get a great deal of exposure. Please note that the Festival of Trees will be a featured stop on the Raeford Woman's Club Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 5, and during the reception of the church's sanctuary choir performance of “Candlelight Christmas” also on December 5.

You will find the schedule of the Festival of Trees on the following page, along with some additional information. We hope that you will participate in this fun holiday fundraiser. If you would like additional information or would like to participate, please call the church office at 910-875-2101 Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Merry Christmas!

The Festival of Trees Committee

WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE BUILDING FUND

Gifts of Cash: Gifts of cash may be fully deductible, as a charitable contribution is you itemize your tax return. The Church will accept gifts of cash made weekly, monthly, or annually, over any part of the 3 year period. You may prepay at any time that it is to your tax advantage.

Gifts of Stock: If you own stock that has increased in value over a long term (more than one year), it is often more tax-wise to donate the stock, rather than sell it to give cash. A gift of appreciated stock may allow the donor a charitable tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift and you avoid paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock. This may allow the donor to give a larger gift than might otherwise be possible.

Gifts of Real Estate: A residence, vacation home, farm, acreage, or lot may have appreciated in value so that its sale would mean a sizable capital gains tax. By making a gift of the property, one would avoid the capital gains tax, and possible received a charitable tax deduction for the fair market value of the property.

Gifts of Life Insurance: A gift of a policy that you no longer need can provide a charitable tax deduction also. The church must be designated as both the owner and beneficiary of the policy. Your agent can help you arrange the gift.

Gifts through Trusts: These can be advantageous to the donor and the Church. Because gifts through trusts often involve the special needs of the donor, The Campaign Committee will be pleased to discuss these gifts with your representative.
